It’s been a very busy week/weekend without a lot of time to dedicate to blogging, so in lieu of a regular post I thought I’d share a few quotes from Eliud Kipchoge, my favorite runner and the greatest marathoner of all time.
“The best time to plant a tree was 25 years ago. The second best time is right now.” I think this applies to saving and investing as much as it applies to running.
“Only the disciplined in life are free.” I’ve written before on the similar topic of rules and freedom. One thing I like about Kipchoge is that he really embraces all the necessary work required to stay on top of his game as a marathoner.
“To be successful in sport is not a chance, it’s a choice!” That last quote comes from this video showing how Kipchoge lives and trains with his teammates. Even though he has millions of dollars and could live a life of luxury, he chooses a monk-like existence, sharing a small room with a roommate and taking his turn sweeping the floors and cleaning the toilets.
Very early Sunday (tomorrow) morning, Kipchoge will face the world’s second best runners at the London Marathon. If you can handle the 5:10 am ET start time (or just record it!), I’m sure it’ll be spectacular.
See you next week!
